How the beer finder works
Every beer style has a typical range for color, bitterness and alcohol. Color is measured in SRM, bitterness in IBU and alcohol in ABV. The finder compares your three settings with those ranges and shows the style that fits best, with three more that come close.
It is a starting point, not a verdict. Two beers with the same numbers can still taste different, because yeast, hops and malt each add their own flavors. Use the result to pick a direction, then read the guide to see whether it sounds like you.
What the numbers mean
The beer finder compares your answers with the typical colour, bitterness and strength of 30 beer styles, then shows the closest match and three more styles worth trying.
Colour is measured on the SRM scale, where pale lagers sit around 2 to 4 and stouts reach 30 to 40. Bitterness is measured in IBU, from below 15 for most wheat beers to 60 or more for many IPAs. Strength is alcohol by volume: most beers are between 4 and 6 percent, while strong Belgian ales and imperial stouts can pass 9 percent.
Your result is a starting point, not a rule. If you like the suggestion, open the full style guide to read where the beer comes from, how to serve it, what food goes with it and three bottles that are easy to find. If it is not quite right, change one answer at a time to see how the match moves.
